Hult Prize

Three UMass Amherst students, under the mentorship of biology professor Peg Riley, made the Hult Prize regional finals for Boston. The team, comprising Mathew Mitchell and Griffin O’Driscoll developed Organicin Scientific. They focus on discovering and developing bacteriocins to combat microbial resistance to antibiotics without harming the microbiome. The Hult Prize, a prestigious award for social entrepreneurship, is sponsored by the United Nations and Clinton Foundation.
